Background

San Francisco, 1995.

G-Note Records was the first independent imprint founded by Feady Crocka. It launched in 1995 with the release of his own debut album, Down 4 Tha Cause (credited as The Fast 1) — a joint release with Airwaves, co-executive produced by both labels. The album was recorded at BARS Studio (Bay Area Recording Studio) in the Fillmore district, where Feady held the studio license.

The following year, G-Note Records released Straight Max'n by Tha Dangla — Feady's younger brother. Feady executive-produced the album, also recorded at BARS Studio. Cover artwork on both releases came from phunky phat graph-x, who also designed covers for Master P, E-40, Rappin' 4-Tay, C-BO, and JT The Bigga Figga.

G-Note Records operated alongside two other Feady-owned imprints in the same era — Paragon Entertainment and Proplylaced Music — all three running in parallel out of BARS Studio. The current iteration of Feady's label arc is Done Deal Digital.
