Mastering

What this internship is

Mastering is the last set of ears and the last set of hands before a record goes out to the world. In this internship you take finished mixes and bring them to release-ready: consistent loudness across a project, tonal balance that holds up everywhere, and clean delivery files formatted for every platform we distribute to. This is the stage where a song becomes a product.

Why it matters here: when we send a release out — to streaming, to radio, to a kiosk inside — it has to meet the same technical bar as anything on the charts, or it gets rejected or sounds weak next to everything around it. You're the gate. Nothing leaves until it's right.

What you'll do

• Master finished mixes to release-ready loudness and tonal balance that holds up across streaming, radio, and kiosk playback
• Make sure tracks across a project, EP, or album are consistent in level and tone so it plays as one body of work
• Prepare and check delivery files to spec for every platform — formats, metadata, and loudness targets
• Catch problems the mix missed — distortion, harsh frequencies, low-end buildup — and flag what needs to go back to the mix stage
• Build and document a repeatable mastering chain so the studio can deliver consistent quality every time
