What this internship is

41510 Magazine is our editorial outlet — the place where the culture and the movement get documented in our own words, in print and online. As an Editorial intern you'll write, shoot, and lay out real issues: interviews, features, photography, and the design that holds it all together.

This matters because the stories that built this — the Bay, the independent artists, the people inside whose voices rarely get a platform — don't tell themselves, and the mainstream press isn't coming to tell them right. You'll help put them on the page, with your byline on the work.

What you'll do

• Write and report features, interviews, and profiles on artists and the culture around them
• Conduct interviews — prep the questions, run the conversation, and pull the story out of it
• Shoot and source photography to run alongside your pieces, in print and on the site
• Lay out pages and features — type, grid, and rhythm that make a story flow
• Pitch story ideas and help shape what each issue covers and why it matters

What you'll learn

• Music journalism — interviewing, reporting, and writing features people actually read to the end
• Editorial photography and visual storytelling for print and web
• Layout and design fundamentals: grid, hierarchy, and pacing a reader through a page
• How an independent magazine gets planned, produced, and published, issue to issue
