Business Cards

What this internship is

A business card is small, but it's the thing that's still in someone's wallet after the meeting's over. As a Business Cards intern, you design the print piece that artists, producers, and DDD clients hand over when they want to be taken seriously — clean, professional, and unmistakably theirs.

Don't let the size fool you. Print is unforgiving. You'll learn the craft of doing a lot in two inches: hierarchy, balance, bleed, and the details that separate a card that gets kept from one that gets tossed.

What you'll do

• Design front-and-back business cards built on each client's existing logo and brand
• Set up files to real print specs — bleed, safe margins, trim, resolution — so nothing gets cut wrong
• Lay out names, titles, contact info, and socials with clean hierarchy in a tight space
• Pick type and color combinations that read at small sizes and print accurately
• Prep press-ready files and double-check them before they go to print

What you'll learn

• Print production fundamentals: bleed, trim, safe area, and CMYK
• Designing legible, balanced layouts in a very small format
• How to extend a logo into a full printed identity piece
• Catching the file errors that cost money at the printer
